NOFX

Seminal punk rockers NOFX played full throttle at Ruums in Kuala Lumpur on 19th April 2007. I was there shooting for FYI Entertainment; the organisers of the show. Its always great to be photographing in an atmosphere that is so full of energy. The vibe at the show was simply awesome.

The images here are my story of the concert that evening. You should have been in the mosh! It was really mad- me trying to take photos in the frenzied mob of stomping puknsters. I had lost my flash diffuser in all that chaos. One really has to be in it to be able to interpret the energy and the whole experience of sound and sight; the rush of adrenaline and the smell and feel of sweaty bodies piled in a raging stomp. Lost and broken gear is just part of the deal.

The American band were a real crowd pleaser, ripping out anthem after anthem. Their whole "Fuck Bush" stance seemingly sat pretty well with the local crowd. In one of the images, Fat Mike is photographed with the head-dress associated with Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat. One would assume the gesture was an embracement of the plight of Muslims in on the West Bank. Some of the crowd didn't quite get the picture, unfortunately.

A great show and a photography shoot that went really well. Well, maybe you be the judge of the photos...
